Sudden eye pain, injury, or vision changes are stressful. We provide same-day evaluation, skilled treatment, and coordinated follow-up so you get the right care—fast.

If a same-day appointment is needed, please call: (402) 493-8266

Why an Eye Emergency Needs a Specialist

Eyes are delicate and changes can be sudden. Some problems are uncomfortable but harmless; others can threaten vision if delayed.

As medical optometrists, we’re trained to evaluate and manage a wide range of urgent eye conditions using slit-lamp exams, imaging, and emergency treatments—plus we’ll coordinate with ophthalmology or the emergency department when needed.

Signs You Should "Walk-In" For an Appointment

Call or book now if you have any of the following:

  • Sudden decrease or loss of vision in one or both eyes

  • New flashes of light, many new floaters, or a “curtain” over part of vision

  • Severe eye pain or worsening pain after injury

  • Chemical exposure to the eye (cleaners, battery acid, etc.)

  • An object stuck in the eye or something that won’t wash out

  • Eye redness with discharge and rapidly worsening symptoms

  • Any eye injury from dirt, metal, or high-speed impact

If you’re unsure, call us and we’ll help you decide the best place to seek care.

What to Bring

  • Photo ID and insurance card (if available)

  • A list of current medications (including eye drops)

  • Your glasses or contact lens case (if applicable)

  • A friend or family member if you’re experiencing vision changes

Quick Tips While You’re On the Way
  • Do NOT rub the eye. Rubbing can worsen abrasions or push foreign bodies deeper.

  • If chemicals entered the eye, irrigate with clean water immediately and go straight to care.

  • Do NOT attempt to remove large or deeply embedded objects. Seek professional removal.

What to Expect at Your Visit

1. Triage & quick assessment — We prioritize urgent cases and may offer same-day or walk-in appointments.

2. Focused exam — Slit-lamp microscopic exam, visual acuity, intraocular pressure check, and dilated retinal exam as indicated.

3. Diagnostics — Point-of-care photography, fundus imaging, or OCT when needed.

4. Immediate treatment — Foreign body removal, irrigation (for chemicals), topical antibiotics, steroid or antiviral drops, pressure-lowering agents, or protective bandage contacts.

5. Clear plan & communication — We’ll explain findings, provide written instructions, and send reports to your PCP or any referring specialist. If surgical or subspecialty care is required, we arrange expedited referral.

Our Capabilities & Coordination

We handle a broad range of urgent eye issues on site and maintain close relationships with local ophthalmologists and hospitals for seamless escalation.

Your care will be coordinated—if you need imaging, same-day referral, or follow-up surgery, we’ll make sure nothing falls through the cracks.

Eyes can’t wait. If you’re worried, we’re ready—same-day care, expert evaluation, and coordinated follow-up.
